======================
2009 came with all the promises that things could be better or worse. We look forward to witness events that would hopefully change our destiny in ways that would be beneficial to us all.
For a start, at CSS, the first event of the year came in the form of CCA orientation on 3rd Jan 09. All CCA groups, were geared up to market their activities to the new sec 1 intake.
They came, they heard us and they join. Its that simple.
Here I am proud to present the list of sec 1 new intake for cross country.
Dion Wang Qing Qing Sec 1-1

Md Danish B Mohd Sec 1-7

Md Salishin B Sazali Sec 1-7

Here's a list of new members from other levels that had transfered over... and those that join us as 2nd CCA plus old members that decided to renew that membership. Also included are the phanthom members that remain phanthom till this day.

Standard Chartered Marathon 2008
=================================
Training had begun right after exam and continued after the Real run and into the holidays. Attendance was not 100% but the regulars are all that...regular in their training.
7th Dec came. As usual we all met at Jurong East MRT to board our chartered bus. This time we included our graduating students. With Jackie and company in the midst, the atmosphere is a bit more noisy and celebratory. They sure know how to pitch up the mood.

I also had with me, Ms Heriza, a trainee teacher to assist with photo taking.
Here's the list of the participants.
Teng Jian Hong
Faiz Anis
Zhi Han
Yap Yun Han
Hong Hwee
Jackie
Zhong Han
Maxwell
Kenn Siang was inadvertantly omitted during the registration. I didn't know how it happenned and was truly sorry. Especially when he had diligently put in a lot of practice time. Kenn came anyway, to cheer his friends along. Well... actually, he and Masaki who was also not in the list came and played with their PSB all through out the race. So much for the cheering.
As you can see, the sec 1 runners and Farhana was not in the list. They could only sign up for the kid's dash which was deemed too easy for them at the point of registration. I didn't signed them up and lived to regret this since they had put in a lot of training time. Withand nothing to look forward to, training becomes somewhat pointless other than to maintain their fitness. There would be no other races for them till 2009.
After the race, which all the boys completed, we met some of the ex-students of Commonwealthians. They joined our group and chatted with us. I wished I had my camera to take a group photo of them together. It is not often that you meet ex-students in any event, not with all the people together.
I didn't particularly felt well that day. And although the mood was high for all the participants, mine was at an all time low. All I wanted to do was to go home and have a good rest. It was after all a Sunday. I did admire all the participants for their commitment to their health, though. And so...I made this my new year resolution. To put in running time for the year 2009.....as often as I possibly could.
Cheers to 2009.
P.S: The pictures taken from Ms. Heriza's camera is not very impressive but will do for this post.

New Balance Real Run 19 Oct 2008
================================================
We arrived at the hall quite early. Yet there were already throngs of people all set to run the race....very enthusiatic lot they were. My students were rather quiet and subdued. We had met very early and boarded our chartered bus at Jurong MRT. Most of them were not in form. All were sleepy including myself. They had just finished their EOY exams. I wonder whether they could finish the race.... These are the students that participated in the real run.
1200 Chua Zhi Han (Men Youth 15 km)
1201 Nur Farhana (Women Open 10 km)
1202 Teng Jian Hong (Men YOuth 15 km)
1203 Faiz (Men Youth 15 km)
1204 Yap Yun Han (Men Youth 15 km)
1205 Jeff Koh (Men Youth 15 km)
1206 Kong Zhen Yong (Men Youth 15 km)
1207 Leng Kenn Siang (Men Youth 15 km)
1208 Yeo Jun Hian (Men Youth 15 km)
1209 Kuah Kai Xiang (Absent)
Faiz and Farhana had just celebrated the the Eid Fitri and therefore had fasted for whole month of Ramadhan. Silently I had hoped that they had all done their personal training during the exam period. I only saw Faiz at the gym regularly.
And so the day has come and all shall be revealed.
Only Faiz finished at 15th position in the Men Youth category at 15 km. The rest had given their best and finished the race. In the end we do have something to celebrate about.... :). One thing for sure, in future, I will insist that they put in an hour run...exam or no exam.
We had taken nice pictures of the event using my super duper new Sony camera purchased at cheap price at the Esso gas station....of Faiz and his prized trophy, of the boys eating the bananas and sipping 100 plus, of Farhana with her consolation smile, of the celebratory mood of the participants....Alas I have lost it all. The camera and all the priceless images went missing at Club Med Bintan. Nothing was more painful than losing your memory....
